Charmouth Bed & Breakfast and Guest House In the heart of Broadchurch country Bed and Breakfast 2 miles from Lyme Regis, Dorset.
The popular ITV series Broadchurch is filmed in West Dorset and Somerset. The main filming location for the town of Broadchurch including the Police Station, harbour, beach and cliffs, and the newsagents from series one, is West Bay. Other coastal scenes are filmed at locations up to six miles east and west of West Bay.
To the west locations on Charmouth Beach have been used several times in Broadchurch series one and two. The cliff top cottage where the original (series one) murder took place is at Eype, which is between Charmouth and West Bay.
Susan Wright's caravan which has featured in many episodes of Broadchurch is situated at the Freshwater Caravan park, between West Bay and Burton Bradstock. While the coastal scenes are filmed in West Dorset, many of the characters homes and other properties featured in Broadchurch are in and around Cleveden in Somerset.Exeter university was used as the location for the Crown Court in series two.
Series three has started with many of the familiar locations such as the police station at West Bay, but also brings in a number of new locations.
The home of the victim (Trish Winterman) is in West Bexington which is a small hamlet on the beautiful coast road between Bridport and Weymouth. Washingpool Farm Shop situated just to the north of Bridport is the location for the farm shop, while the series three crime scene is set at Littlebredy (sometimes written as 'Little Bredy' and pronounced 'briddy'), which is in the countryside between Bridport and Weymouth. Here the waterfall used in the series forms the head of the river Bride which flows to Burton Bradstock.
Fortunately, although DI Alec Hardy has had to move from his blue riverside bungalow used in series two (which is in the centre of West Bay), he has actually only gone a few hundred metres to a bungalow on the east cliffs at West Bay. This is very close to the Watch House Cafe which is the filming location for the Broadchurch cafe on the beach.
All the coastal locations in Broadchurch are within easy reach of Hensleigh House, making it an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful scenery and coastal villages of West Dorset.
