Get the most from your visit to the Jurassic Coast

Jurassic Coast Guides use years of experience and local knowledge to help you get the most from your holiday.

The Dorset Jurassic Coast is full of hidden gems. From fantastic coastal walks, to fossil hunting on the beaches, and visits to the filming locations for TV series such as Broadchurch.

But if you are here for just a few days how can you ensure that you see the best sights, and get the most from your visit?

The answer is a personal expert guide, with local knowledge, and a wealth of experience helping visitors enjoy this beautiful part of England. With a guide you can make sure you visit the best locations, see the best views and learn about why this area is so special and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Itineraries can be tailored to your requirements. If you want to take to the hills with exhilarating walks along parts of the South West Coast Path, you can follow in the footsteps of Julia Bradbury to the highest point on the South Coast. If you prefer sightseeing there are a wealth of pretty villages, spectacular scenery, and unique views.

For literary, film and television fans you can visit the setting for the opening sequences of the French Lieutenant's Woman and Jane Austin's Persuasion, or visit many of the filming locations for ITV's Broadchurch and recreate your favorite scenes, or explore the settings for the Thomas Hardy novels.

But of course you can always try your hand at hunting for your own fossils on the famous Jurassic Beaches.

These guided walks and tours are especially useful for those spending just a few days in the area, especially overseas visitors on busy itineraries.

Walks and tours are tailored to suit you, and are suitable for all ages and abilities. You may want to spend a morning walking and an afternoon fossil hunting, or combine sightseeing walking and exploring over several days. They are led by a qualified, insured & experienced Coastal Leader.

Keep safe on the beach

  • Watch the tide. Always check the tide times before going on the beach
  • Mind your step on slippery surfaces and seaweed. Many 'stones' are in fact lumps of slippery mud
  • Stay clear of the cliffs. Rockfalls and mudslides can happen on ANY DAY OF THE YEAR
  • Dress for the elements! Wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear if walking near the coast
